Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By John Udovich]

Small cap engineered film stock UniPixel Inc (NASDAQ: UNXL) has not been rewarding investors lately but there are signs of light at the end of the tunnel, meaning its worth taking a closer look at the stock along with the performance of potential peers or benchmarks like Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) and small caps Universal Display Corporation (NASDAQ: OLED) and GT Advanced Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: GTAT).

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Uni-Pixel (UNXL) manufactures electronic film products using its proprietary manufacturing process, UniBoss. This stock closed up 7.6% to $16.84 in Monday's trading session.

    Monday's Volume: 1.88 million

    Three-Month Average Volume: 1 million

    Volume % Change: 108%

From a technical perspective, UNXL bounced sharply higher here right off its 50-day moving average of $15.89 with above-average volume. This stock looks to be forming a double bottom chart pattern at $14.91 to $15.16. If that bottom holds, then shares of UNXL could see a continuation of Monday's upside action.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in UNXL as long as it's trending above $15.16 or $14.91 and then once it sustains a move or close above Monday's high of $17.53 with volume that hits near or above 1 million shares. If we get that move soon, then UNXL will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance level at its 200-day moving average of $19.89.

  • [By James E. Brumley]

My enthusiasm for UniPixel Inc. (NASDAQ:UNXL) hasn't exactly been veiled; I penned bullish comments on the stock back on July 10th and August 12th. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm hasn't borne fruit - UNXL is up a little since my initial call a month and a half ago, but we've yet to see the explosive bullish move I figured was on the way. BUT, that may be about to change... like, today.

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Uni-Pixel (UNXL) surged 41% to $7.38 this week, making it the biggest winner in the Russell 2000. Uni-Pixel benefited from the wearable electronics boom.
