The vulnerabilitiesr rather, perceived vulnerabilitiesf emerging markets 颅have been the focus of heightened discussions over the past few months. Concerns about the health of emerging markets came on the heels of political upheavals in Egypt, economic deceleration in China and protest demonstrations in Brazil and Turkey this summer.

I think too many investors have failed to put those events and developments in the proper context. Rather, they have come to the conclusion that emerging markets are finished, particularly, they say, as the US Federal Reserve (Fed) is expected to turn off the money tap, depriving emerging markets of needed liquidity to protect their weakening currencies and pay their debts. For the time being, the Fed has decided to keep the tap flowing, removing one immediate investor fear. But I think there are also other reasons why investors who doubt the emerging marketsstory need better context.

Comcast Corp.(CMCSA) is much more likely to work with Charter Communications Inc.(CHTR) on a bid for Time Warner Cable Inc.(TWC) than to pursue an offer on its own, said a person familiar with the situation–a major boost to Charter’s hopes of winning the takeover battle.

What 24/7 Wall St. wanted to do was evaluate this based upon past coverage and future pricing. The latest report of merit was that Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ: CMCSA) would make a joint offer with Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR) to acquire Time Warner Cable. The question was, is, and likely will remain in place… At what price?

If other cable companies — like Charter Communications (CHTR), Cablevision (CVC) and Cox Communications — decide to merge in order to keep pace with Comcast, content providers could be under the gun once more.

The value of Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE: TWC) is one which has been up for grabs for some time now. If Bloomberg TV is reliable for getting a scoop here, then the value may have to be far higher in order for the cable company to be acquired. Bloomberg just announced that Time Warner has said it would likely accept a buyout offer up in the $150 to $160 per share range. Without confirmation or broader reporting, we would still warn readers to consider this more of a rumor than gospel.

Along the way, the industry became segregated into wired and wireless sectors. Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA  ) and Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC  ) dominated the wired side, while AT&T and Verizon (NYSE: VZ  ) primarily call the shots in wireless.

What happens if the federal government kills the proposed combination of Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE: TWC) and Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ: CMCSA)? Nothing. Cable service will remain poor. Customer satisfaction with cable companies will remain awful. Attempts to raise rates and cut cable speeds will continue.

Thomson Reuters (NYSE: TRI  ) has acquired Canadian trademark search, monitoring, and screening firm Onscope, Thomson announced Tuesday.

  • [By Jonas Elmerraji]

It's been a solid year for Thompson Reuters (TRI); since the calendar flipped over to January, this $30 billion financial media firm has rallied more than 22%. But don't worry if you've missed out on the move -- TRI looks well-positioned for higher levels thanks to the pattern that's been setting up in shares.

Thompson Reuters is currently forming an ascending triangle pattern, a bullish setup that's formed by horizontal resistance above shares at the $35.50 level and uptrending support to the downside. Basically, as TRI bounces in between those two technically-important price levels, it's getting squeezed closer and closer to a confirmed breakout above that $35.50 price level. When the breakout happens, it's time to be a buyer.

TRI closed above the $35.50 level in yesterday's session, but it's a little early to call it a breakout just yet. If shares can hold above that breakout level all through today's session, then the buy signal is worth heeding.

Perhaps Verizon should have made this issue more public and not agreed to it without a good public fight, and in that way forced all of its peers to also bear this weight today, if they are not involved. Though it was restricted in that way due to the issue's secret status. Since it seems logical and probable that other telecommunications providers are involved, Verizon should make a major PR effort to clear its name or at least bring in the names of its peers into the judgment pool. Verizon is at the center of the spotlight because of the Guardian article that broke the news, and because it is the largest telecommunications company in America. I believe it could mitigate any brand damage I'm speaking of here if it can implicate its most important peers as well, including AT&T (T), Sprint Nextel (S), Comcast (CMCSA), Time Warner Cable (TWC) and the rest, in the same mess.

Alamy The afternoon exodus of turnstiles clicking the wrong way may soon be coming to an end at Disney's (DIS) Animal Kingdom. Disney announced over the weekend that an entire land themed to James Cameron's "Avatar" -- complete with at least two E-ticket attractions -- should open at the animal-themed park by early 2017. The addition of the fictional Na'vi tribe's lush Pandora moon landscape should help shake the park's negative tag of being a half-day park. It's been more than two years since Disney and Cameron announced that "Avatar" -- a 21st Century Fox (FOXA) property -- would be coming to Florida. At the time, the parties earmarked a $400 million investment and squared away several acres at Animal Kingdom for the project. However, things had been relatively quiet since then. After spending billions to acquire Marvel and Lucasfilm, it was only natural to wonder if Disney was having second thoughts about its blue-hued plan to use the section of the park that had originally been slated for the mythical Beastly Kingdom, before Disney settled for installing the far more modest Camp Minnie-Mickey. We're Back on Pandora Marvel and Lucasfilm properties would've been an odd fit, even for a park that stretches the scope of being an animal park to include talking bugs in a 3-D show, a track-wrecking yeti, and a time-traveling dinosaur-hunting thrill ride. Marvel itself comes with unique challenges. Marvel's most prolific characters are tied to a licensing deal with Comcast's (CMCSA) Islands of Adventure in the Universal Orlando Resort that prohibits their appearance at any of Disney's Florida parks. Since things had become so quiet on the "Avatar" front lately, it was easy to speculate that Disney was working on a deal to buy those rights from Comcast. That never happened. However, now that Disney has come clean with some more details and offered up impressive concept art, it seems as if the family entertainment giant has made the right call by dreaming up
