Whole Foods Market (WFM) released its quarterly report yesterday and the numbers were terrible. Due to the dreadful performance, shares have tanked over 8% in today's trading session. The company's previous quarterly report was also bad and I expect it to continue this trend in the upcoming quarters. Therefore, I think investors should sell their Whole Foods Market shares.

The short, sucky answer? A lot:
Plans for a igafactorymeant to produce millions of electric-car batteries ginned up excitement, but also raised eyebrows. The Wall Street Journal reported on skepticism in the space — including from heads at Volkswagen (VLKAY) and battery maker Highpower International (HPJ). Now, even planned investment partner Panasonic (PC) now sounds iffy on the project, with company Kazuhiro Tsuga saying “the investment risk is definitely larger.” Not good. There also was Tesla direct sales snafu. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie huffed and puffed and (on March 11) successfully blew down Tesla direct sales model, with the Motor Vehicle Commission approving a measure to enforce an already-existing ban on direct sales. On the flip side, Tesla has scored victories in New York and Ohio in the past month, and is making progress in Arizona (which has a little incentive on the board). Production of the Model X has been pushed further back, to 2015. Musk’s reasons — mostly having to do with focusing on bolstering Model S sales — are valid, but that doesn really soften the blow of a longer wait for the much-anticipated addition to Tesla line. To address the issue of battery fires in the Model S, TSLA added titanium shields and aluminum deflector plates to new vehicles and offered to install them for free in all its existing cars. Tesla margins are excellent, and there no hard number on the cost impact of the fix, but titanium ain cheap. This definitely isn going to add to Tesla bottom line. What Now?I won belabor you with my bullish position on TSLA stock, but if you want, you can see it here. In short, Musk is a genius; Tesla products are quality and appeal to (and are priced for) the all-important luxury segment; and just given size and scale, TSLA has oh-so-much room to grow.

Early returns suggest this proposition is generating plenty of enthusiasm. WhenNRG Energy(NYSE: NRGY) became the first company to spin off a YieldCo subsidiary holding solar generating assets last July, the offering price forNRG Yield(NYSE: NYLD) provided for a 5.5 percent yield at the promised dividend rate. The IPO was more than 10 times oversubscribed — an indication of pent up investor demand for such offerings. Less than 11 months later, NYLD’s share price has more than doubled, so even though it has already raised its dividend the yield is down to 2.7 percent.

Carnival stock is trading closer to its 52-week low than its high, and the same can't be said of rivals Royal Caribbean (NYSE: RCL ) and NCL (NYSE: NCL ) .
- [By Rick Munarriz]
Royal Caribbean,NCL (NYSE: NCL ) , and ship spa services provider Steiner Leisure (NASDAQ: STNR ) all hit new 52-week highs earlier this month. Unlike Carnival (NYSE: CCL ) -- which has been sluggish in light of several mishaps at sea since last year -- everyone seemed to view the negative instances as Carnival-specific events. Now Royal Caribbean's fire may lead folks to question booking on any cruise line in the near future.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Grace L. Williams]
Yesterday, we recapped a sticky issue over at Goodrich Petroleum (GDP) regarding a successfully fracked well that got clogged.
Agence France-Presse/Getty ImagesGoodrich fell 5.1% yesterday but things have begun to normalize for Goodrich shares today, as at least one analyst weighed in this morning with a note saying this is a minor setback at best.
SunTrust Robinson Humphrey Neil Dingmann explains that there’s no need to pull the plug on Goodrich’s shares:
It is not uncommon for a well to become plugged during the flowback stage, especially using new technology (dissolvable frac plugs). However, we still anticipate an initial production rate over 700 barrels per day, possibly rivaling the Smith 5-29H-1 (about 1,000 barrels per day) and coming online potentially as soon as early January. In addition, the Weyerhaeuser 51-1H-1 should be completed and initial production next month and the CMR 8-5H-1 should come online a few weeks later. We also still soon anticipate the announcement of a large acquisition by another operator in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (TMS).
Dingmann also notes that shares have been under pressure as investors worry over well completion, and that turnaround in the form of a few good wells will ease that worry.
Shares of Goodrich have gained 0.2% to $16.46 at 11:07 a.m. today, while Cabot Oil & Gas (COG) has fallen 0.2% to $38.39, Anadarko Petroleum (APC) has gained 0.4% to $78.50, Range Resources (RRC) is little changed at $83.56 and Pioneer Natural Resources(PXD) is little changed at$186.36.

Twenty years ago, emerging markets represented only 19% of global gross domestic product (GDP); today they account for 36%1nd are expected to increase even more in the next few years, as shown in Exhibit 1. Exhibit 2 shows how quickly GDP is growing in emerging markets, and it is expected to continue to grow at a faster rate than advanced economies.
- [By Roberto Pedone]
Another earnings short-squeeze prospect is independent oil and natural gas player Goodrich Petroleum (GDP), which is set to release numbers on Monday after the market close. Wall Street analysts, on average, expect Goodrich Petroleum to report revenue of $58.67 million on a loss of 69 cents per share.
The current short interest as a percentage of the float for Goodrich Petroleum is extremely high at 27.9%. That means that out of the 27.91 million shares in the tradable float, 7.66 million shares are sold short by the bears. The bears have also been increasing their bets from the last reporting period by 28.7%, or by about 1.70 million shares. If the bears get caught pressing their bets into a strong quarter, then shares of GDP could explode to the upside post-earnings as the bears rush to cover some of their short positions.
From a technical perspective, GDP is currently trending above its 200-day moving average and just below its 50-day moving average, which is neutral trendwise. This stock has been downtrending for the last month, with shares pushing lower from its high of $28.55 to its recent low of $22.14 a share. During that move, shares of GDP have been making mostly lower highs and lower lows, which is bearish technical price action. That said, shares of GDP have started to rebound off that $22.14 low, and it's starting to move within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade post-earnings.
If you're bullish on GDP, then I would wait until after its report and look for long-biased trades if this stock manages to break out above its 50-day moving average of $25.16 a share with high volume. Look for volume on that move that hits near or above its three-month average action of 1.80 million shares. If that breakout hits, then GDP will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $28.47 to its 52-week high at $28.55 a share. Any high-volume move above those levels could then easily send share

What: Shares of Violin Memory, (NYSE: VMEM ) plunged 48% Friday after the high-speed data storage specialist came up well short of analysts' estimates with its first quarterly report as a public company.
- [By John Udovich]
